The American Bar Association’s recent article, “Consumer Protection Subcommittee Reaches Out to NAAG,” described Helen Mac Murray’s recruiting efforts as co-chair of the Consumer Protection Subcommittee of the State Attorney’s General/Department of Justice Issues Committee (the “Subcommittee”).
As part of the Subcommittee’s recruiting efforts, Helen Mac Murray recently attended the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) Consumer Protection Conference in Providence, Rhode Island, where she spoke to the group. She encouraged the public sector attendees to join the Section of State and Local Government Law’s State AG/DOJ Committee and Consumer Protection Subcommittee. Mac Murray shared that the ABA had partnered with NAAG to offer discounted rates to attorneys who work for a state AG/DOJ.
Mac Murray also shared that one of the many benefits of the Subcommittee is it can be used as a neutral forum for public and private sector attorneys to discuss issues of mutual interest outside of an investigation or litigation setting. Further, Mac Murray hopes the Subcommittee could provide CLE opportunities or publishing opportunities on these issues.
