Earlier this week, the Republican Attorneys General Association (“RAGA”) officially announced the election of a new leadership team that will lead the organization’s campaign efforts in 10 states holding attorney general races in the upcoming 2020 elections. The leadership team, which will be led by Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, will focus on holding five republican seats out of the ten up for re-election.
So far, 2019 has been a monumental year for RAGA. For the first time in the organization’s history, it swept the AG races across the country while simultaneously increasing the Republican majority. RAGA seeks to carry this momentum into 2020 and is hopeful that it will be able to defend the five republican-held seats up for re-election and flip some of the seats held by incumbent democrats.
Over the next year, the partisan race for state attorney general seats will heat up and is expected to become a fierce battle in key battleground states. The following are ten states that RAGA will focus its efforts on:
