Careers

M&S is growing and we’re looking for great people to join our team.

About Us

We’re not your average law firm and we do things a little differently around here. We’re focused on finding talented individuals that share our values. And because we know professional paths can cross at the most unexpected times, it’s never about simply filling an open position. If you’re the right fit, there’s an opportunity for you here.

We’re a passionate team that cares deeply about protecting consumers and facilitating commercial success by making sure businesses – from entrepreneurial startups to Fortune 100s – know how to comply with federal and state consumer protection and privacy laws. If they come to us facing a class action lawsuit or regulatory enforcement action, first we’ll defend them. And then, we’ll show them how to achieve their business goals while investing in compliance for the future.

So that’s what we do, but who ARE we? We’re an innovative boutique firm laser-focused on our mission. With deep experience working on both sides of these laws, we’re there for our clients with insight earned from having helped shape the regulatory landscapes that now govern them. We know that the best results for clients are often achieved through collaboration — which is why you’ll frequently find us partnering with internal business teams, in-house counsel, and even other law firms, adding value in our niche.

We’re driven by 5 core principles that guide the work we do and how we treat each other:

Commit to Excellence

Act with Integrity

Driven to the Best Result for the Client

All for One & One for All

Foster Inclusion & Embrace Diversity

We take the ampersand in our name seriously. We know we can’t do what we do without what that “&” represents – the entire M&S team, who work together to deliver exceptional results and unsurpassed service to our clients. Whether working in the office, at home, or on the road, we’ve built both the technology and culture to support the seamless collaboration needed to excel.

Take a look at our current opportunities below to see if you’re a fit!

Current Opportunities

  • About You
You’re a team player who doesn’t hesitate to roll up your sleeves and dive in. You love a new challenge and aren’t afraid to push yourself outside of your comfort zone – especially if it’s to support a client. You think before acting, learn from your mistakes, and rarely make the same one twice. You respect the contributions of non-attorney staff in working toward success for both you and your clients. You’re a rising star attorney looking for a real opportunity to hone your skills and be the best-of-the-best in your craft.

Finally, you know that being all work and no-play creates burned-out lawyers. You do what it takes to get the job done, but make sure to take time to refresh and recharge for your next challenge. You seek a firm that puts work-life balance into practice and treats people as people rather than billing automatons.

If you have a passion for at least one of the practices areas below we want to hear from you!

    Privacy
You’re creative, inquisitive, and want to be on the forefront of emerging privacy and data security issues. In your free time, you keep up with current trends in technology, hot-button privacy issues, and the latest data breaches. You can quote the CCPA and have submitted a data subject request to a business just out of curiosity.

    Compliance
You’re resourceful, curious, and want to advise businesses on how to comply with the numerous consumer protection and privacy regulatory demands they face. In your free time, you keep up with current trends in technology, consumer complaints, and state and federal regulatory changes. You want to help clients understand how they can ensure they are in compliance with federal and state laws and help them to navigate any compliance challenge.

    General Counsel Services
You’re entrepreneurial minded in your approach with clients. You want to help grow a practice area to help support businesses with a growth mindset in their changing legal needs. Your interests run the full gambit from working on contract draft, review and negotiation, strategic planning, trademarks, due diligence employee manuals and handbooks and so much more! You’re trusted, dependable and inquisitive, and want to become a valued business advisor – the first person the client calls with questions.

    What You’ll Do Here
You’ll work closely with M&S partners, associates, and staff to serve clients in highly regulated industries to support their compliance, privacy, and general business efforts. From entrepreneurial startups to Fortune 100 organizations, you’ll work with businesses across many industries, helping them understand their compliance obligations, assess their compliance practices, and implement new policies and procedures. Early in your role, you’ll be responsible for honing knowledge management processes and delivering well-crafted research to support the team. You’ll become intimately familiar with not only the laws around data privacy, security, marketing, and advertising but also the technologies and practices that support compliance with them. You’ll learn how to teach a client what they need to do and how to recommend best practices to actually do it.
