Ben Jewell

“As former in-house counsel, I’ve been in my clients’ shoes. I know the balancing act they face in trying to meet compliance demands, reduce their organization’s risk, and achieve business objectives. To that end, I see myself not just as a legal advisor but as a true business partner.”

Experience

Associate Attorney Ben Jewell works with the firm’s Compliance team, advising clients on proactive compliance with federal and state telemarketing and privacy laws. He works with businesses across numerous highly-regulated industries and has a particular depth of experience within the healthcare and life sciences sectors.

Bringing previous experience as Assistant General Counsel for a nationally-ranked Children’s Hospital and Pediatric Research Institute, Ben understands firsthand the challenges complex organizations face in meeting compliance responsibilities, while also serving the needs of multiple powerful constituencies. In that role, he advised on a wide range of business and legal matters related to intellectual property protection and commercialization, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA and other data privacy laws, charitable fundraising, and advertising and marketing compliance. Ben also has substantive experience in complex commercial litigation, as well as drafting and preparing memoranda, pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and employment policies.

When not helping M&S clients tackle their biggest compliance challenges, Ben can be found playing golf, cheering on his hometown Ohio State Buckeyes, and occasionally being tackled by his own young children.
